A shooting in Richland early Tuesday morning, Aug. 27, at the Kay-Lyn Kourt Motel, brought added attention to lapses Stewart County has experienced with regional E-911 service. The Regional E-911 Center serves Stewart, Clay, Quitman and Randolph counties. The call center is
located in Clay Co. and has allegedly been a source of concern for local law enforcement officers in Lumpkin, Richland and Stewart Co. in the past.
At least four 911 calls were made early on Aug. 27 about an incident in progress at the motel. According to a source at the Richland Police Department, calls made from cell phones were routed to the E-911 call center in Ellaville, which does not serve Stewart County. The dispatcher. ...
