Schley to write off $188,375 in sales tax

A resolution forgiving indebtedness of $188,375.71 from the 2003-2007 Schley County SPLOST fund was presented and accepted by the current Board of Commissioners. The resolution declares that the voters approved a 1 percent Special Option Sales Tax by local referendum for the period of 2003 to 2007 and that the former Schley County Board of Commissioners borrowed $188,375.71 from that fund for general fund obligations, therefore the amount is to be forgiven, or written off.
