at Pasaquan in Buena Vista

   Visitors to Buena Vista's folk art site Pasaquan had a rare chance to experience an outside opera about a true outsider last Friday and Saturday evenings when Columbus State University put on the first performances of Eddie's Stone Song: Odyssey of the First Pasaquoyan.
   The unique production – based on the life of Pasaquan creator Eddie Owens Martin – did not disappoint, as even those who normally wouldn't describe themselves as "opera people" said it was well worth their time.
   Friday's event was invitation only and had a full crowd, but on Saturday when visitors had to buy tickets it was even larger.
   "We ran out of tickets," said Mike McFalls of CSU. "We had 300 tickets and around 320 people came."
   He added that there was a lot of positive feedback – and some of it didn't even have to be spoken.
