Marion BOE wants to recruit more minority teachers

The Marion County Board of Education discussed a plan to hire more minority teachers during its recent regular monthly meeting.
Superintendent Richard McCorkle said trying to recruit minority teachers is nothing new for the school system, but they want to improve their outreach, so administrator Michelle Vanderloop, who is also the system’s curriculum director and director of federal programs, came up with a new plan.
