Stewart County voters have choices
to make about public education

On Nov. 6, Stewart County residents will be asked to renew an existing Education Special Local Option Sales Tax (ESPLOST) on their ballot. Without the ESPLOST, the burden of local funding for the school system will be transferred from the existing one-cent sales tax, which everyone pays, to the property owners in the county.
“The only thing I want people to know is that this is not about building a wing to an elementary school and a gym,” Stewart County School Superintendent Floyd Fort told The Journal.
