The Marion County Commission hired its first full-time recreation director during its recent monthly meeting. Officials also discussed options for two other big issues – improving the water system and animal control.
The commissioners voted 3-1 to hire Andrew Allen as recreation director. Commissioner Norman Royal, who is also the recreation director for the City of Buena Vista, cast the lone “no” vote.
Allen was one of seven applicants for the job and the Recreation Board voted unanimously to recommend him for the position.
