Marion County High School will make history this Friday with its first ever appearance in the quarterfinals of the state playoffs. There are only eight teams still standing and the Eagles are three wins away from the state championship.
The No. 7 ranked Eagles will face a huge test in Rochelle, as they will face a No. 2 ranked Wilcox County team that has a lot of talent and tradition on its side. The Patriots won the state championship three years ago and are 44-7 since the beginning of the 2009 season.
The Eagles, however, have been showing plenty of talent of their own and have built quite a tradition themselves over the last several years. Marion County is 37-9 since 2009 and has made the playoffs four years in a row – with a couple of region championships and playoff victories to boot.
