During their recent meeting, the Schley County Commission listened to residents both in favor of and oppossed to the proposed closing of Wallis Road in the southwestern part of the county.
Those who want to close the road and those in opposition were invited to present their views. Mr. and Mrs. Ken Baker want the road closed and cited the dumping of deer carcasses during the hunting season and the use of the road by people on four-wheelers.
Matt Wurtz is opposed to the closing since his property could only be accessed from Ebenezer Road as a result. He claims that if Ebenezer was not accessible because of a flood or bridge problem, emergency vehicles could not use the alternative of coming up from GA Highway 153 on Wallis to his property.
