At the years first meeting of the Schley County Family Connection, Rachael Oliver, Region 8 Community Support Specialist, explained the Georgia program that rates childcare and early education facilities, which is named Quality Rated.
Governor Deal wanted to improve the quality of child care in the state so he initiated this program which is funded by a grant from the Joseph B. Whitehead Foundation, Oliver said.
It is available on a volunteer basis to child care centers and provides technical assistance, equipment, and curriculum to participants. A rating is made on the centers so that customers can judge for themselves where to place their children. It is similar to the ratings put out by State Department of Health on restaurants.
