Entire community urged to attend this Friday

Marion County High beat rival Dooly County in the quarterfinals of the state playoffs last Friday to advance to the semifinals for the first time in school history (see separate story in this week's newspaper). The No. 2 ranked Eagles are now only one win away from travelling to Atlanta to play for the state championship in the Georgia Dome.
First, they must beat the only team that has beaten them this season – No. 6 ranked Hawkinsville, which handed the Eagles a 14-10 loss on November 1.
That loss was in Hawkinsville. This time the Red Devils have to come into the Eagle’s Nest where Marion County is 12-1 since first stepping foot on the new field in August of 2012. This year the Eagles are a perfect 7-0 in front of the hometown fans.
There were 1,296 tickets sold for last Friday’s playoff game in Eagle Stadium, which does not include the players, coaches, band, cheerleaders, etc.. The team is hoping for a record-setting crowd that is ready to ... Online subscribers click here for the rest of the story.
