Roosevelt Jackson, 95, of Buena Vista has received much recognition in recent years for the historical role he played in the Negro Baseball Leagues. He has travelled across the country for reunions, received many awards, and been interviewed by many reporters, students, and historians. A number of government bodies have also passed resolutions in his honor.
He has enjoyed every recognition, but he says the most recent one was perhaps the sweetest.
“It’s like changing from a cup of coffee that ain’t sweet to one that is,” said Jackson.
