Monday was an exciting day for Marion County schools, as children and teens started a brand new school year. The day concluded with school officials showing their own excitement during a tour of school facilities.
After the tour, Superintendent Richard McCorkle looked at the members of the Board of Education and said, "I think good facilities help students to realize that this board expects a lot out of them. I just can't praise this board enough for the hard work you've done to provide the very best facilities that our students can possibly have in Marion County. … It tells those kids how much importance each one of y'all places on them, without saying a word."
There was plenty being said at L.K. Moss Elementary School as students walked into an expanded cafeteria that features not only more space, but also much more light thanks to a large row of windows. The addition adds around 1,500 square feet to the cafeteria.
