Tyson Foods will soon lay off around half of the people it employs at the processing plant in Buena Vista, as the second shift is done away with. Around 150 people are expected to either lose their jobs or be offered jobs in another town.
"As a result of ongoing initiatives to improve the efficiency of our South Georgia operations, we've made the difficult decision to discontinue second shift operations at our Buena Vista poultry plant and move the production to another facility," said Worth Sparkman, public relations manager.
