Schley County to build new fire stations

Schley County officials have decided to use sales tax funds to build two new fire stations and buy a used fire truck. That was one of the items in the recent Schley County Commission meeting.
Officials also discussed a housing request, selling surplus equipment, and mowing rights-of-way on state highways.
In a discussion of the use of SPLOST (special local option sales tax) funds, it was decided by the commission to purchase a used fire truck that has been retrofitted, to repair an existing fire truck, and to build two new fire stations with the funds, which total around $170,000.
