The Marion County Football Booster Club Friday Night Lights 5K & Fun Run was a success in every sense of the word. The event, billed as a great way to exercise, support the Eagles, and be part of a new Friday Night tradition, was held on Friday, August 16 at Eagle Stadium.
The rain held off to give us a pleasant, clear night, and entrants lined up until the last minute to register. More than 120 Eagle runners and walkers took part in the one-mile fun run and the 5K. The registration of $25 gave them a race entry (timed), a t-shirt, and a terrific evening of fellowship. Competitors of all ages lined up and followed the course to raise money for our football team, which will
open the season this Friday at home with a scrimmage against neighboring Taylor County. Be sure to make plans to attend, with kickoff at 7:30.
Medals were awarded to our top finishers in the event, and presented by our own MC mascot. The winners in the Fun Run were girls: 1st place Olivia Tibbett & 2nd place Harleigh Beth Martinez; Boys: 1st place Walt Rushing and 2nd place William Paul.
Congrats to our winners in the 5K. Austin Law was the overall winner, with a time of 20:57, while Laura Dudley was ... Online subscribers click here for the rest of the story.
