It’s been almost 12 years since the Chattahoochee Judicial Circuit created a separate Juvenile Court Circuit and now the court’s founding judge, Wayne Jernigan, Sr., of Buena Vista is retiring from the bench. He has garnered high praise for not only organizing the circuit court, but also for the way he conducted it.
“He stepped into a new position that had no form, no precedent, no model,” noted Superior Court Judge Bemon Gill McBride, III. “He did a wonderful job setting up the court. … He was firm, fair, and mindful of what he said and what he did and how it affected families. He is a role model for other judges.”
