Last Wednesday, Oct. 26 was a big day for area schools who competed in the Region 6A Cross Country Championship Race held at the Sumter County Parks & Recreation Complex. There was a local individual champ, as well as seven athletes from local teams who placed high enough to advance to the State Championship Race, and five teams that advanced.

Local schools really did well in the race, with teams in 1st, 3rd, and 4th place (top 4 advance to State), and with 4 of the top 6 individual runners also being from local teams.
Chattahoochee County's
Michelle Balmer was the overall individual region champ, winning the race with a time of 24:23....
