By LINDA ADAMS
(From the March 28, 2007 issue)
This year Schley County High School has not one, but two Star Students.
To be designated a Star Student, a senior in high school has to have the highest Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) score of the entire class and be in the top 10 percent of the class. This year there was a tie between Christin Wood and J.W. Walker. Both students will receive a scholarship from the Schley County Manufacturing Association, the group that sponsors the award in Schley County.
Each Star Student choses a teacher as their Star Teacher. Christin chose JoAnna Arnold and J.W. chose Patti Wurtz.

recently treated by the Manufacturing Association to lunch. They each gave a short speech, which was a repeat of one given at the 10-county Regional Star Student competition in Columbus, as well as one given to the local Lions Club.
Christin took Spanish and French from Arnold and is going to GSW. J.W. took English from Wurtz and will attend Savannah College of Art & Design. |
