| the way to the Crawford County 39-yard line. After a few nice runs by Allen McKay, fellow running back D.J. Lemons rushed for a touchdown. The two-point conversion attempt failed, but the Eagles led 12-7. The visitors, however, once again mounted a long drive – this time 83 yards long – and scored with 8:21 left in the first half when a receiver made perhaps the “catch of the year,” diving backward and pulling the ball in as he fell on his back. After the extra-point kick, Crawford led once again (12-14). The Eagles came right back in this see-saw competition, with a long drive down the field that was aided by a couple of good runs by Mike Jones. With 4:48 left in the half, Jones wrapped up the drive with a 7-yard touchdown run. Wilson tossed a pass to Alexander for two extra points and the home team reclaimed the lead (20-14). Crawford threatened to score once more before halftime, reaching the Eagles’ 20-yard line, but the defense hunkered down and stopped them on a fourth down play with 11 seconds left on the clock. Marion got the ball first in the second half, but was forced to punt. Crawford then scored with 6:29 left in the third quarter to knot the score at 20-20. |

| Marion then put together a decent drive, even converting on a fourth-down gamble at their own 40-yard line, but wound up having to punt. Crawford County was stopped cold on its next possession, with Larico Dixon making a big tackle in the backfield on third down to force them to put from their own 26-yard line. The Eagles took over on the Crawford 45-yard line and drove toward another score, but a defender picked off a pass in the endzone. Both teams then were forced to punt before Crawford took the ball on its own 41 with 3:38 left in the game. They put a scare into the Homecoming crowd, reaching the Marion County 18-yard line with 29 seconds left to play, but missed a field goal attempt and the game was send into overtime with the score still 20-20. In overtime, each team gets a possession, starting at the opponent’s 15-yard line. Crawford went first, scored, and kicked an extra point to take a 20-27 lead and put pressure on the Eagles. Marion County’s Kendrick Reeves rumbled all the way from the 15 to the 8-yard line on the first play, with Tramayne Wilson taking the ball down to the 1-yard line on the second play. Reeves scored on the next play to make the score 26-27 with the “extra point play” still to go. The Eagles went for two points, but fumbled on the attempt, leaving the final score at 26-27. Marion fell to 3-5 with the loss, while Crawford improved to 3-6. |
