Anthony Murray the mayor pro-tem. The Council also discussed the VA Hospital and the Building Inspector Position.
In addition, the department heads gave their usual monthly reports. These included: Recreation, Family Connection, Police Department, Street Department, and Health Department.
Police Chief Ray Sales expressed that he was very concerned with the drinking of alcoholic beverages around the railroad area. He felt it creates a lot of trash and unsightliness. He also announced that the roadblocks on and around the holidays were very successful. He was happy to say that many potential lives were saved due to the amount of DUI's written to unsafe intoxicated drivers.
The Street Department was glad to announce that there were not many major water leaks in the month of December. The Street Department discussed with the Council the repairing of the front-end loader and chipper and leaf machine. Members of the Council were very concerned with the fact that many of the citizens of Buena Vista refuse to bag their

leaves. The Council encouraged the Street Department to tighten down and force everyone to bag their leaves, and distribute tickets to those who do not.
The Health Department needed a representative to attend a workshop planned to discuss dealing with suicide.
The Council also agreed to ride in the Martin Luther King Jr. Parade. The parade will be around the Square in Buena Vista Saturday, January 13. After reports and other business, the meeting was moved into executive session.
