Bake Me A Wish

Holiday Appetizer Puffs

I told you earlier in the year how it was not a good season for swimming for scallops.  What I didn’t tell you was, one of those days I snorkeled for sand dollars.  It has taken me since September to get them cleaned up.
This year instead of having a Santa tree, I am going to hang all those sand dollars.  I have tied different size red ribbons on each, depending on the size of the dollar.  And the tree is so pretty with the tiny lights.  I hope you will try something a little different.  My motto is: “Let’s give them something to talk about.”  And this is a good thing!
Here is an appetizer that you can be creative with.  I have given you a few suggestions, but I know you can think of more.

Holiday Appetizer Puffs
   * 1 sheet frozen pastry, thawed
   * 2 tablespoons olive or vegetable oil
   * Toppings: grated parmesan cheese, sesame seeds, poppy seeds, dried dill weed, dried basil leaves, paprika, drained capers, pimiento-stuffed green olive slices
Preheat oven to 425°F.  Roll pastry on lightly floured surface to 13 inch square.  Cut into shapes with cookie cutters (simple shaped cutters work best).  Place on ungreased baking sheets.
Brush cut outs lightly with oil.  Decorate with desired toppings.
Bake 6 to 8 minutes or until golden.  Serve warm or at room temperature.
