I went on vacation last week. Friends would ask, “Where are you going?” My reply would be “to swim with the sharks.”
I was not making light of the situation, I knew it was true. We were going scalloping…..but this year they must be in somewhere else. We did not have much luck. So we fished instead. We fished in the same waters we scallop in. We caught sharks from one foot in length to about 5 feet. So you see when I said “to swim with the sharks” I wasn’t kidding.
Here are some additional cool drinks. After a day of fishing and swimming, I couldn’t wait to get back and make us some of these delicious concoctions.
Key West Minted Limeade
* 1/4 cup sugar
* 1/4 cup fresh lime juice
* 4 fresh mint leaves
* 1/2 cup ice cubes
* 1 cup ginger ale, chilled
* 2 lime slices
Combine first 3 ingredients in a blender; process until smooth. With blender on, add ice cubes, one at a time; process until smooth. Stir in ale. Serve over ice; garnish with lime and mint. Serve immediately.
Tropical Wave
* 1 1/2 cups sliced ripe banana
* 1 cup cubed fresh pineapple
* 1 cup cubed peeled ripe mango
* 1 cup papaya nectar, chilled
* 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
Place banana, pineapple, and mango into freezer; freeze until firm (about 1 hour). Remove from freezer, and let stand 10 minutes. Combine fruit, nectar, and juice in a blender; process until smooth. Serve immediately.
Watermelon Wonder
* 2 cups cubed seeded watermelon
* 1 cup lemon-lime soda (such as Sprite), chilled
* 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
